LATAM Capitalist's Essential Travel Gear List for 2020

Updated: Apr 26, 2020

When I'm on the road in Latin America or based up in one city for an extended period, there's a few pieces of gear I'll never leave home without. In this article, I'll go over some of my favorite travel gear and why I find them essential. Feel free to click the links provided to purchase them for yourself. A small portion of your purchase will go to support this website at no extra cost to you.

Defway DEW Wallet and Passport Holder

When you're packing multiple passports, just as every aspiring LATAM Capitalist should, you're going to need a wallet that can handle them. The Defway Wallet does just that with 4 dedicated pockets for passports. I wrote a full review of the wallet a while back which you can find here.

When you get back from reading the review, you can find this essential piece LATAM Capitalist gear on Amazon.

Anker PowerCore Battery

While traveling throughout Latin America, the last thing you want to be is caught without battery. The 10,000mAh linked here charges my iPhone three times before the battery itself needs to recharged. There's even larger versions of the battery, but I find the 10,000 is the best compromise considering its relatively large battery capacity while maintaining a small form factor. Soundcore Spirit

I've heard a lot of people like the Apple AirPods, and to be honest I've heard they're pretty good. The problem is, those things won't fly in Latin America. You'll draw way too much attention walking around with those in your ears.

That's why I prefer the Soundcore Spirit wireless headphones. These guys get the job done, but at a fraction of the price of AirPods and are significantly more discreet. These headphones are "low-profile," and thus perfect for Latin American travel. These are made by the same company, Anker, that makes the battery I recommended above. If you've already used their batteries, you know they make high quality products.

Ledger

The Ledger Nano X is my top pick when it comes to cryptocurrency hardware wallets. I love hardware wallets, they provide the best combination of security and convenience for storing your cryptocurrency. At the size of a USB storage stick, hardware wallets are perfect for travel and eliminate the need for cumbersome paper wallets. Specifically, the Ledger Nano is my favorite due the continuous support from the manufacturer. They are always pushing out updates and adding more coins that can be stored on the wallet.

The Ledger Nano supports all the coins you'd expect, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, plus many, many more. Best of all, with the recent release of the Ledger Nano X, you can now use your ledger with your mobile phone.
